As stated the American farmers are expected to plant more cotton this year as prices remain high due to a short supply worldwide and strong demand from the growing middle class in China and India.<\/div>\n

Cotton prices rose to their highest levels ever in August 2010 with prices in the U.S at around $1-$1.30 dollars<\/p>\n

The article states long-term cotton futures now hover around $1, but Pima cotton prices are closer to $1.30.<\/p>\n

That’s one reason big growth is expected this year in California. Nearly all the cotton planted there is the high-quality, extra-long fibre used in luxury sheets and towels.<\/p>\n

Bloomsberg reports Californian farmers are expected to plant 400,000 acres of cotton this year.<\/div>\n
